L'ange gardien
Language: French (Français)
Ange gardien, que je révère,
Prions aux feux de l'Orient,
Afin qu'en sa bonté de Père,
Dieu nous regarde en souriant !
En vain j'essaie une prière,
Qui sans ferveur expire en moi ;
Mon front se courbe vers la terre,
Car je ne puis prier sans toi !

L'esquif sans pilote fidèle,
Errant la nuit au sein des mers,
Et l'oiseau blessé, que son aile
Ne soutient plus au haut des airs ;
Le luth dont la corde se brise
Au milieu de plaintifs accords,
Voilà mon sort, quand sur la brise
Tu t'envoles loin de nos bords !
