by Jean-Baptiste Théodore Weckerlin (1821 - 1910)

L'ange du vallon
Language: French (Français)
Non loin de l'église
Qui sonne l'éveil,
Une maison grise
Sourit au soleil.
Un chêne l'abrite
Contre l'aquilon,
Un ange l'habite,
L'ange du vallon.

Une liserole
Sur son front charmant
Semble une auréole,
Prise au firmament.
Jamais l'orpheline,
Qui pleure au chemin,
Ici ne s'incline
Et ne prie en vain.

Malgré tant des charmes,
Attraits gracieux,
On a vu des larmes
Briller dans ses yeux.
On dit que des anges,
Suivant Gabriel,
Ouvraient leurs phalanges,
L'appelant au ciel.
