by Wilhelm Valentin Christian Pfeiffer (1810 - 1841)

Die Rosenstöcke
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es preisen alle Dichter
Die Rosen insgemein,
Doch ich muß ihnen zürnen
Und ihnen böse sein.

Die dichtumlaubten Rosen
Allein sind Schuld daran,
Daß ich mein liebes Clärchen
So selten grüßen kann.

Ich gehe oft vorüber
Und kann sie niemals sehn,
Weil leider! vor dem Fenster
Zwei Rosenstöcke stehn.

Confirmed with Jugendklänge von W. V. C. Pfeiffer, Dr., Göttingen: Kübler'sche Buchhandlung, 1835, page 41.
