by Iben Nielsen (1878 - 1922)

Sorg
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Dagene rinde saa langsomt hen,
og Nætterne græder jeg bort —
men skulde jeg græde al min Ve,
den længste Nat blev for kort.

Skilles maatte jeg fra min Ven,
— aldrig saa hører jeg Bud,
aldrig saa slukkes min Elskov
eller min Kummer dør ud.

Døden bød mig Lise og Fred
og Glemsel til evig Tid —
Det havde baadet mig allerbedst,
dog valgte jeg Længsel og Strid,

valgte at leve, o, se dig engang,
en Stund om kun fattig og kort —
For det vil jeg længes Dagene hen
og græde Nætterne bort.

Confirmed with Iben Nielsen, Digte og Vers, Brdr. Salmonson, Copenhagen, 1899, pages 62-63.
