Taubenpost
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kleine Taube weiß und rein,
Möchtest du mein Bote sein?
Nimm den Brief dann hier am Band,
Trag' ihn hin in Liebchens Hand.
Folgst dem Dufte du der Linden,
Wirst du schon ihr Fenster finden.

Briefchen scheint nur leicht und klein;
Aber Wehmuthsthränen d'rein,
Tausend Schwüre, groß und hehr,
Machen mir den Brief zu schwer.
Kann ihn nicht zur Liebsten tragen,
Mußt es schon dem Adler sagen.

Confirmed with Die Sprache des Herzens. Lieder-Album für Damen. Aus den neuesten deutschen Dichtern gesammelt von Rhingulph Wegener, Zweite, durchweg veränderte und vermehrte Auflage, Berlin, Verlag von Otto Janke, 1857, 87-88.
