Die Wange blass, das Auge verweint, so sah ich dich gestern am Fenster steh'n, die Luft ist rauh, keine Sonne scheint, und ich muss hinaus in die Fremde geh'n. Wohl find ich im Süden den Sonnenschein, und finde vielleicht einen Freund, und finde manch liebliches Mägdelein, doch keines, das um mich weint!
