by Theodor Apel (1811 - 1867)

Die Sterne leuchten durch die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Sterne leuchten durch die Nacht
In weiten, stillen Raum,
Nur mich, der ich an Dich gedacht,
Beglückt kein sanfter Traum.

Du liegst wol jetzt in tiefer Ruh,
In süßem Traum versenkt,
Und freundlich schwebt deß Bild Dir zu
Dem Du Dein Herz geschenkt.

Auch ich, der ich Dir ferne bin,
War einst Dir werth und lieb,
Und Deine Liebe schwand dahin,
Wie treu ich Dir auch blieb.

Doch treu bin ich Dir noch vereint
Zu meiner eig'nen Qual,
Und wenn Dein liebes Bild erscheint,
Grüß' ich es tausendmal!
