by Georg Scherer (1824 - 1909)

O komm zurück
Language: German (Deutsch)
Längst hat die letzte Rose
Den letzten Traum geträumt,
Die Nelke hat dem Sterne
Der Aster das Feld geräumt;
Und die da glühten in Farben,
Die Blumen alle starben,
Weil du in weiter Ferne
Ach, allzu lang gesäumt.

O, komm zurück! Entfalte
Dein sonnenhell Gemüt,
Auf daß es um uns wieder
In Duft und Farben sprüht!
Und träufle die trunk'ne Seele,
Du süße Lerchenkehle,
Aus deinem Himmel nieder,
Daß neu der Lenz uns blüht!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Georg Scherer, Vierte, vermehrte Auflage, Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Berlin, Wien, 1894, page 74.
