Betglocke am Abend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Horch, die Glocken läuten
durch die Abendruh'!
Was sie wohl bedeuten?
Kind, o höre zu!
Wieder geht zu Ende
eines Tages Frist;
falte deine Hände,
denk' an Jesum Christ!

Wieder angefangen
hat die finst're Nacht.
Hast du kein Verlangen,
dass dich Gott bewacht?
Willst du ihm nicht sagen,
dass du ihm vertraust?
Dass du ohne Zagen
in das Dunkle schaust?

Horch, die Glocken läuten!
Kannst du beten, Kind?
Weißt, was sie bedeuten,
nun, so bet' geschwind!
Schließ' die Augenlider
dann in Frieden zu;
Gott schaut gnädig nieder,
gibt dir sanfte Ruh'.
