by Johann Baptist Berger (1860 - 1888), as Gedeon von der Heide

Aus der Ferne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Einmal noch vom hohen Berge
Schaute ich in's weite Land;
Sang ihr Abendlied die Lerche
Und die Sonne mählig schwand;
Immer hört' ich dein Ade;
O, wie thut das Scheiden weh!

Weithin zogen Frühlingdüfte;
Blaue Ferne, gute Nacht!  --
Weiß nicht, ob die Abendlüfte
Meine Grüße dir gebracht?  --
Tausendmal ich rief Ade!
Ob ich dich auch wiederseh'?

Sah den Strom tief unten wallen,
Heimwärts d'rauf manch Schifflein flieh'n,
Wanderlieder hört' ich schallen,
Sah die muntern Sänger zieh'n;
War im Herzen mir so weh,
Ging und weinte still -- Ade!
