by Andreas Munch (1811 - 1884)

Høstandagt
Language: Norwegian (Bokmål)
Der staar en Kirke høi og underbar,
hvor mørke Graner ere Piller ranke,
hvor Buen hvælver sig som Himlens Tanke
og Aftenrøden er det malte Glar.

Høststormen synger der med Orgeltoner
en Sjælemesse over Jordens Liig,
og alle Skyer lette hæve sig
som Virakdampe op mod Luftets Kroner.

Men i det Fjerne som et Høialtar
staar Fjeldet med sit hvide Linnedklæde,
og Stjerner over Helligdommen frede
med selsom Glands, saa tindrende og klar.

O! lad mig bøje Hoved og knæle
paa Kirkens Altartrin ved Nat og Dag,
at Andagts dunkle Vinger kunne dvæle
med Kjøling over Hjertets vilde Slag!
