Der Junge ward gut
Language: German (Deutsch) 
Er war noch Kind!  kaum konnt' er gehn; 
Da reicht' ihm die Mutter das Glas: 
"Trink' nur, mein Junge!  das ist der Wein! 
Ja!  Spaniens Wein ist das!" 

Und der Junge trank!  Es strahlte sein Aug' 
Und kündete künstige Gluth  --  
Da legt' ihn die Mutter zur Wiege hinein 
Und sprach:  "Der Knabe wird gut!"

Nun ist der Junge ein alter Knab'. 
Die Mitternacht kommet herein. 
Da ruft er begeistert und hebt den Pokal: 
"Dies Glas meinem Mütterlein!"
