by Friedrich Kampmann (1828 - 1902)

Bei Könnigrätz früh Morgens
Language: German (Deutsch)
Bei Könnigrätz früh Morgens
Ein Mägdlein zog in's Feld.
Ihre Sichel, die thut blinken,
thut blinken,
Und Garb' um Garbe fällt.

Was fährt sie auf urplötzlich,
Als träf' sie grimmer Schmerz?
"O Gott, ich möchte sterben,
ja sterben,
So weh ist mir um's Herz!"

Und um dieselbe Stunde
Ein Reiter zog in's Feld.
Sein Säbel, die thut blitzen,
thut blitzen,
Er ficht als wie ein Held.

Was greift er nach dem Herzen?
"Die Kugel brennt so sehr!
Gut' Nacht, gut' Nacht, Treuliebchen,
Treuliebchen!
Ich seh' dich nimmermehr!"
