Serenade
Language: German (Deutsch)
Komm ans Fenster, holde Schöne
Wo kein Horcher uns belauscht,
Wo in meiner Laute Töne
Nur das Abendlüftchen rauscht.
Horch dem goldnen Saitenspiele,
Das melodisch die Gefühle
Meiner Seele wiederklingt!

Du, die unter Millionen
Ich der Liebe würdig fand,
Höhnen würd' ich alle Kronen,
Bötest du mir Herz und Hand.
Und du kannst den Jüngling hassen,
Ihn so herzlos dulden lassen,
Der dich wie sein Leben liebt?

Ach wie träum' ich stets vergebens
Meiner Zukunft Glück so schön,
Traulich mit dir durch des Lebens
Holden Rosenhain zu gehn!
Komm, o komm und still mein Sehnen
Trockne freundlich meine Tränen,
Eh' mich noch das Grab umhüllt!
