by Justinus (Andreas Christian) Kerner (1786 - 1862)

Im Mondlicht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du Mond, dem Tau und Quelle
Im Innern ganz gebricht,
Vertrockneter Geselle!
Gern weckst du [Menschentränen]1,
Saugst sie mit deinem Licht.

[Von mir kannst du nichts saugen:
Wie du, vertrocknet, alt,
Ist Quelle meiner Augen,
Ist meines Herzens Bronnen,
So alles tot und kalt.]2

Saug [nur]3 mit deinem Schimmer
Den Tau, der dir gebricht,
Aus andern Augen immer,
Mond, du Vampir der Tränen,
Die meinen weinen nicht.
