Adieu riants bluets, adieu coquettes roses,
Voici venir déjà l'automne aux pampres d'or ;
Adieu le beau soleil et tant de douces choses
Qui vont vers le passé prendre un rapide essor.

A peine vous naissiez, quelques courtes journées
Reçurent vos parfums, vous virent resplendir,
Et déjà, pauvres fleurs ! sur vos tiges fanées,
L'automne trop hâtive, hélas ! vous fait mourir.

Ainsi de notre vie arrive aussi l'automne,
Alors plus de soleil, plus de fleurs, plus d'amour.
Plus rien pour nous parer qu'une pâle couronne
De soucis enlacés, tout ruisselants de pleurs.
