so hoch gefürcht' zuvor?
Wo sind nun meine Pfeil'?
All meine List und Macht
wird jetzt verspott', verlacht,
dem Raub bin ich zuteil.

Filii, die Schäfrin zart,
Mich hat gebunden hart, 
Gemachet ganz wehrlos.
Hinfort es ihr gelingt,
Mich, wie sie will, bezwingt 
Durch mein selbsteig'n Geschoß.

Ach, seht ihr Götter all 
Denn zu in diesem Fall?
Löst doch auf meine Band'! 
Lasst als ein Göttlein mich 
Doch nicht so gar im Stich, 
Es wär euch all'n ein' Schand'.

So trostlos hinterwärts!
Wo ist nun Glaubens Mut?
Wenn Gott ein wenig schweigt,

Des Kreuzes Bitterkeit 
Versüßen mit Geduld?
Ach, daß mein Herz so zagt 
Und nicht getrost es wagt 
Auf Gottes Wort und Huld!

Was jetzt so böse scheint, 
Ist alles gut gemeint 
Und kömmt von lieber Hand. 
Auch muß es also sein:
Durch Trübsal geht allein 
Der Weg zum Vaterland.

Jesu, verleihe doch,
Dass dein so sanftes Joch 
Ich gerne nehm auf mich;
Die Last ist dennoch leicht, 
Wie schwer es uns auch deucht, 
Ich lehne mich auf dich.
