Immense, et d'un pompeux magique si bizarre, 
Apparaissant partout planté de rosiers blancs, 
Le parc, abandonné des frais zéphyrs tremblants,
Souffle son parfum mort dans le jour qui s'effare... 

Soudain, l'orage éclate et la voix du tonnerre 
Au milieu du silence horrible de l'endroit 
Roule ! le tourbillon de l'ouragan s'accroît, 
Aussi fou que la pluie est extraordinaire.
 
Car, au torrent à pic de ses gouttes énormes 
Se mêle un flux d'infiniment petites formes 
Qu'on voit bientôt ramper sous la nue au repos,

Et, la lune glissant sur les brumes décloses, 
Diamante et verdit ces âmes de crapauds 
Qui savourent la nuit dans la pâleur des roses.
