by Maurice Rollinat (1846 - 1903)

Les Violettes
Language: French (Français)
Les violettes sont des fées
De la couleur et de l'arome.
L’humble mousse est le frais royaume
De ces modestes attifées.

Elles se plaisent sous le dôme
Des grandes forêts étouffées.
Les violettes sont des fées
De la couleur et de l’arome.

Sous les tuniques dégrafées
Le sein des vierges s’en embaume,
Le vivant, le mort, le fantôme
Se parfument de leurs bouffées,
Les violettes sont des fées !

Confirmed with Maurice Rollinat, La Nature. Poésies, Paris, Bibliothèque-Charpentier, 1892, pages 252-253.
