Голубые покоились волны,
Голубой свод небесный дремал...
В мертвом сне цепенея, безмолвный
Час томительный полдня настал.
Застывала, палима лучами,
Раскаленная почва земли,
Трепетала лишь чайка крылами
И вилась, и кружилась вдали...

Притупилися все ощущенья,
Все застыли волненья в груди,
И душа, забывая стремленья,
Ничего не ждала впереди.
Лишь испуганно, где-то глубоко
В задремавшем уме притаясь,
О минувшем мечта одиноко
Трепетала, кружилась, вилась...
