In Liebe trunken schnitt ich deine Silhouette,
es war in jenem kleinen, süßen Pavillon, 
Du wandest leise trällernd eine Rosenkette,
und Hassan schlug die Laute an, dein kleiner Moor! 

Der Spitz lag unter deinem seidenen Japon,
und äugte eifersuchtig stets zu mir empor, 
wie klang doch deine Stimme lieblich in mein Ohr:
"Tout doux, Lalouridon, tout doux, Lalouridon!" 

Du schlangest zärtlich um mich her die Rosenkette, 
Dein Mund war mir zum Küssen nahe: "Louridon!" 
Da sprang das Hündchen knurrend auf von süßer Stätte, 
und biß nach mir, Du riefest zürnend deinen Moor:

"Hassan, bringst gleich das Hündchen aus dem Pavillon!" 
Mit mir allein, hauchtest du leis: "Den Riegel vor!" 
Ich war gehorsam, und war ein beglückter Tor, 
"Tout doux, Lalouridon, tout doux, Lalouridon!"
