by Einar Christiansen (1861 - 1939)

Jeg synger om en Kongesøn
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Jeg synger om en Kongesøn,
jeg seer ham tidt i Drømme.
Hans Aasyn er saa himmelblegt
som vinterstille Strømme.

Hans Fader gav ham Gods og Guld
og rejste ham en Throne.
Hans Moder gav ham Bibelord
om Kors og Tornekrone.

Han ødte Gods, han ødte Guld,
han flænged Thronens Hynder,
og Tornekronens visne Pryd,
den plukkede han sønder.

For Verdens Gods og Verdens Guld,
de stilled ej hans Længsel;
og himlens tunge Bibelord,
de slutted ham i Fængsel.

Nu sigter han sit eget Guld
af Livets stride Vande.
Nu trykker han den hvasse Tjørn
dybt i sin egen Pande.
