Les Noces

Pour aller aux noces de son filleul 
Qui épouse la princesse d'Engaddi, 
Mignonne Yrsiz, la fée d'amour, 
N'a pris ni son carrosse de feuilles, 
Ni sa robe de roses de Timour, 
Ni sa toque d'oiseau de paradis. 

Elle a mis son mantelet d'hermine 
À la longue queue soyeuse et fine, 
Une rose à sa lèvre qui sourit, 
Et s'est sauvée fort satisfaite de sa mine 
En son déguisement de souris.

Et là-bas au carrefour, 
Jolie et curieuse souris blanche 
Sur l'épaule d'un mendiant, 
Elle regarde les pages qui se déhanchent 
Comme des guêpes autour 
De son filleul souriant, 
En leurs armets et leurs atours.
