Sehnsucht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das macht der duftige Jasmin,
Daß ich nicht Ruhe finde,
Die Nachtgedanken der Sehnsucht ziehn
Hinaus und schweifen im Winde.

Ob eine Seele wohl mein gedenkt
In all der blühenden Runde?
Ich hätte gar bald mein Herz verschenkt,
So einsam ist die Stunde!

Wie Silber liegt der Mondenschein
Über den schweigenden Gärten. –
O ging es jetzt in die Welt hinein
Mit einem lieben Gefährten!

O [kämst]1 du, Einziger, her zu mir,
[Zu mir]2 in Nacht und Schweigen!
Und [führtest]3 die Einsame fort von hier, –
[Für immer wär ich]4 dein Eigen!
