Frühlingserinnerung
Language: German (Deutsch)
In Flur und Hain erwachet
der Nachtigallen Chor,
und Feld und Wiese lachet
in frischem Blumenflor.
Was hebt in dieser Frühlingslust
so sehnsuchtsvoll sich meine Brust
beim süßen Schall
der Nachtigall?

Als einst die Veilchen blühten
dort in dem grünen Tal,
und Rosen milder glühten
im lichten Sonnenstrahl,
da war mein trautes Lieb mir nah',
wenn ich ins treue Aug' ihm sah,
hing all mein Glück
an seinem Blick.

Nun ist er fortgezogen,
weit in die Welt hinaus;
in helle Wasserwogen
werf' ich den Veilchenstrauß.
Von meinen Tränen ist er nass;
dann berg' ich in dem kühlen Gras
mein Angesicht
vorm Sonnenlicht.
