Ein fauler Feind der Fröhlichkeit auf Erden, ein Stoiker, lag dort und schrie: „Seht, Bürger einer Welt wie die! Welch Glück ist’s, unempfindlich werden!“ Die Weisheit konnt ein Jüngling nicht ergründen; er schwieg, er trank und lacht und schrie: „Seht, Bürger einer Welt wie die! Welch Glück ist’s, schmecken und empfinden!“
