by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Letzter Waldhorngruß
Language: German (Deutsch)
Noch einmal, ihr Hornesklänge,
tönt zu der Geliebten Ohr,
dringt zu ihres Stübchens Enge
noch einmal recht traut empor.

Freundlich koset um die Süße,
ob sie gleich mein Herz verschmäht,
bringt ihr meine letzten Grüße,
die nun bald im Wind verweht.

Wo du weilst, sei Glück und Segen,
unbefang'nes, heit'res Kind,
wenn auch mir auf fernen Wegen
Gram und Schmerz Geleiter sind.

Fahre wohl! Im Weltgedränge
mache nichts das Herz dir schwer;
meine nächt'gen Hornesklänge
hörst du niemals, niemals mehr.

Confirmed with Lyrische Gedichte von Johann N. Vogl, Wien, 1844.
