Neujahr ist heut, Neujahr,
das alte Jahr ist um.
Ihr Mägdlein, macht das Haar!
Frau Holle geht herum.

Sieht sie zerzaust wo einen Kopf,
Macht draus sie einen Weichselzopf.
Ob kurz die Flechten oder lang,
Es macht nichts aus bei ihrem Fang.

Drum seht euch vor und laßt euch Weile,
Daß sie euch nicht ertappt in Eile:
Das alte Jahr ist um,
Frau Holle geht herum.
