L'immobile splendeur de son beau corps divin ;
Et l'artiste à genoux caresse de la vue 
Le marbre inanimé, qui s'anima soudain !

Poëte ! le miracle eut lieu dans l'ère antique, 
Et les dieux exilés de la sphère Olympique 
Comme l'artiste grec ne t'exauceront pas. 

Épris de la beauté de ta propre chimère, 
Comme Pygmalion son amante de pierre,
