Ständchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich steh' mit meiner Laute
vor deinem Fensterlein
und wiege dich, du Traute,
in süßen Schlummer ein.

Mein Liebchen will ich fragen
in Tönen weich und lind:
Darf ich zu hoffen wagen,
liebst du mich, holdes Kind?

Ach, darf ich selig hoffen,
von dir geliebt zu sein,
dann lass dein Fenster offen
und lass mein Liedchen ein!

Doch wenn trotz meiner Schmerzen
sich schließt das Fenster dort,
dann, mit gebroch'nem Herzen,
schleicht sich der Sänger fort!

Verstummt sind meine Lieder,
das Herz erstarrte mir;
du siehst mich nimmer wieder,
ich sterbe fern von dir.
