Wanderlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Nun geh' ich wieder wandern
Die Welt wohl auf und ab,
Nimm Mädel keinen Andern,
Weil ich so lieb Dich hab'.
Ade, Du Vielgetreue!
Wisch' Dein Äuglein aus;
Der Bursch, der muß auf's Neue
In Sturm und Wind hinaus.

Bald, bald kehr' ich dann wieder
Von meiner Reise heim;
Ich bleibe treu und bieder,
Und Du, nicht wahr, auch mein?
Ach könntest untreu werden,
Wahnsinn faßte mich.
Doch nein, Du wirst auf Erden
Mich lieben ewiglich.

Confirmed with Meine Lieder. Den Freunden aufgezeichnet, Berlin: Verlag der Königlichen Geheimen Ober-Hofbuchdruckerei (R. Decker), 1861, page 100.
