Serena era la tarda, l’horitzó d’or;
amb el sol s’adormien tots els remors...
Un rossinyol cantava, bon rossinyol,
cantava entre les branques cançons d’amor.
El seu cant era tendre, tendre i tan dolç,
que de son somni estúpid tregué mon cor.
“Cor, oh! cor, semblà dir-li, temps hà que dorms.
Canta com altres dies, canta cançons.
Canta la primavera, canta l’amor.
Canta ta ben aimada, ton àngel bo!”
I en la pau de la vetlla el sol s’ha post,
y’l rossinyol cantava, bon rossinyol...
