by Jean de La Fontaine (1621 - 1695)

Brillantes fleurs, naissez
Language: French (Français)
Brillantes fleurs, naissez,
Herbe tendre, croissez
Le long de ces rivages ;
Venez, petits oiseaux,
Accorder vos ramages
Au doux bruit de leurs eaux.

Clymène sur ces bords
Vient chercher les trésors
De la saison nouvelle ;
Messagers du matin,
Si vous voyez la belle,
Chantez sur son chemin.

Et vous, charmantes fleurs,
Douces filles des pleurs
De la naissante Aurore,
Méritez que la main
De celle que j'adore
Vous moissonne en chemin.

Mais j'aperçois Acis :
il aime Galatée.
Son ardeur pourrait bien
être enfin écoutée.
Il est beau, c'est assez ;
et les filles des dieux
Ne consultent que leurs yeux.
