Bird of the fallow fields
and the hillside’s steeping
wing-span to wind force yields 
and as it yields -
pee-weeping;
while vivid the sharpened sunlight glints 
on the whitening splints 
of its under-breast, 
as with a jest 
it pirouettes piquantly on high,
and twirls 
and whirls 
its wings through the wilding west wind-flurried sky.
