My Father’s Field
Language: English
“This is my father’s field”;
said the boy,
as we walked
through black of horses -
white of sheep;
And it seemed right
that he should be so proud
of this quiet field
which held the farm’s most lovely animals.
Yet that this field
more than those other fields
which under-stretched the arch of country sky
was ruled especially by his father’s will
I did not then think strange:
nor till this moment wonder why.
