Portrait chéri, gage d'un pur amour !
Charmez encor ma sombre inquiétude ;
Trompez mon cœur jusques à son retour.

Si quelquefois, de mes lèvres tremblantes,
J'ose presser ce portrait adoré,
Le feu subtil de ses lèvres brûlantes
Pénètre encor dans mon cœur déchiré.

À mes regards ce trésor plein de charmes
Semble répondre et parait s'animer ;
Je crois le voir s'attendrir à mes larmes,
Et je lui prête une âme pour aimer.

Oh ! de l'amour adorable prodige !
Son œil se trouble, et ses pleurs vont couler...
