Nach Jahren

Manch Jahr ist nun verschwunden
ins ewige Meer der Zeit,
hinein ist auch versenket
der Liebe Lust und Leid.

Nur manchmal singt's und klingt's noch
von alter Tage Lauf,
so wie aus tiefem Grunde
Vinetas Glocken herauf.

Die mahnen den Schiffer, zu beten
für der Versunk'nen Ruh';
der Wind und die Wellen, sie singen
die Responsorien dazu.

Dann naht mit sanfter Milde
die stille, erlösende Nacht;
sie wird den Frieden mir spenden,
den sie Vineta gebracht.
