Lieb Mütterlein

Es zogen meine Lieben fort,
ich blieb zurück allein,
und scheidend sprach manch treues Wort
zu mir lieb Mütterlein.

Still lebt' ich hin den Tag für mich,
er war so klar, so rein,
und tausendmal dacht' ich an dich,
du herzig Mütterlein!

Der Abend kam, und einsam schien
der Lampe trauter Schein;
am Abend, ach, wie zog's mich hin
zum lieben Mütterlein!

Da sprach ich leis' mein Nachtgebet,
flocht manchen Seufzer ein,
und hab' hinauf zu Gott gefleht
für's liebe Mütterlein.

Und wenn's auch niemand hört' und sah,
ich war doch nicht allein
und fühlt', der Segen war mir nah'
vom lieben Mütterlein.
