Venus went wand'ring, Adonis to find, At last espied her sweet Adonis slain. A thousand thoughts possessed her troubled mind And sudden fear shaked every purple vein. Weeping she stands, weeping for his untimely death, Whose sighs and tears wails his departed breath.
