Dopo tante e tante pene
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Our translations:  POR
First aria:
 Dopo tante e tante pene
 D'una cruda lontananza,
 Pure alfin a voi ritorno,
 Vaghe luci del mio ben.
 Sento già che più serene
Spiran l'aure in sí bel giorno,
 E ritorna la speranza
A brillar dentro il mio sen.

Recitative:
 Dubbio di vostra fede,
Quanto, o Dio, tormentò l'anima mia.
 Tiranna gelosia non spense, nò,
Ma accrebbe il mio bel foco,
 Che per fiero destino,
 O lontano o vicino
Ch'esser poss'io, senza cangiar mai tempre,
Per voi, care pupille, arderà sempre!

Second Aria:
 Quella fiamma che m'accende
 Piace tanto all'alma mia
 Che giammai s'estinguerà!
E se il fato a voi mi rende,
Vaghi rai del mio bel sole,
 Altra luce ella non vuole
 Né voler giammai potrà.

Note: "Quella fiamma che m'accende" is often misattributed to Marcello.
