Translation by Erland Lagerlöf (1854 - 1913)

Min lycka varade så kort
Language: Swedish (Svenska)  after the German (Deutsch)
Min lycka varade så kort
och blef mig icke trogen;
flyttfågel var hon och flög bort
om natten öfver skogen.

Men ej som andra fåglar mer
hon vänder hem ur världen ;
hon var den svalan, som föll ner
och drunknade på färden .
