Den trofaste hustru

"At jeg er gift, min herre, ved I godt.
Dog hemmeligt to underskønne perler
I tilbød mig som eders gave flot.
Forvirring har i hjertet I forvoldt,
og jeg må til - stå, at jeg eders perler
lyksaligt til min silkeklædning holdt.
Min bolig, herre, strålende og stor,
står stolt og kæk, uplettet i sin ære,
og nær ved haverne, hvor kejsren bor.
Den store krigers gyldne lanse har min husbond.
Aldrig, herre, skal jeg tvivle,
at eders elskov ren som månen var,
at eders hjerte banked varmt for mig,
at længselsfuldt det krymped sig i vånde,
gå, herre, gå fra mig og forvir mig ej!
Tro bliver jeg min husbond,
hvem jeg svor med ham at leve og at dø tilsammen;
for perlerne ej brydes dette ord!
Tag dem! Se mine tårers kildevæld
har vædet eders kære,
eders kære, skønne perler.
Ak, om jeg aldrig skued Jer!
