Like silver through the springtime night Let your tones descend, oh song! Only the moonlight keeps watch with us, Only the lilac listens gently. Unite yourselves with the scents After the bustle of the day, With the shimmering upon the shrubbery, Ye tones, [unite yourselves] in a sisterly manner And beautified by the scent and the beam, Return then from out of the valley! Sound more loudly, transfigured now, In praise of God, the Lord! Far out over the sea of blossoms, Sound in holy melody! To whom the host of stars sings, To whom the flowers send forth their scents, Arise! and praise him, joyfully exhilarated By the fresh breezes! And over mountain and valley, Penetrate into the halls of Heaven! And when Thou bidst our sounds Welcome up yonder, Then send us Thy spirit of fire, Lord, back from on high! That in the most exalted chorus of jubilation With the sound of trumpets And with the clashing of cymbals Our song of praise may echo upward! And transfigured by the same beam May Heaven and blossom-valley be!
