Tu hai la barba bianca..." - "Eh! figlio mio,
Perchè ho parecchi annetti più di te."
- "Ma quando avrò parecchi annetti anch' io,
Avrò pur io la barba bianca?" - "Sì,
Ma allor la mia t'avrà già detto addio."
- "Perchè, babbo?" - "Perchè... perché è così,
E il perché sia così niun può sapere.
Le barbe bianche hanno brevi i lor dì."
"Forse verrà a tagliartela il barbiere?"
- "Sì, un che falcia barbe a tutte l'ore
E insapona le faccie ch'è un piacere..."
- "E te la spruzzerà l'acqua d'odore?"
- "No, ma sapendo che l'odor mi garba,
Tu, figliuol mio, mi darai spesso un fiore...
Baciami intanto... e lascia star la barba."
