by Friedrich Heinrich Karl, Freiherr de La Motte-Fouqué (1777 - 1843)

König Heimer mit dem Kinde auf der Haide
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du Wind auf wüster Haide,
Wehe mir nicht das Kindlein wach --
Schwirre, blanke Zither, schwirre, --
Du Schlaf, du lieber, linder,
Lasse mir nicht das Kindlein los, --
Schwirre noch leiser, Zither, schwirre!
Zum Weinen, sonst erwacht das Kind,
Wehklagt in Schmerzenstönen, --
Säuselt mir sanft, Zithersaiten, --
Umfang' es freundlich, Wölbung
Voll reichen Liederklanges,
Und schaukl' es schmeichelnd hin und her.
