Ud går du nu på livets vej
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Ud går du nu på livets vej.
Brug livet, men misbrug det ej!
I modgangs sky, i medgangs sol
ej på dig selv, men himlen stol!

Gem ej på guld! bortkast det ej!
Til ærlig fordel sig ej nej!
Blandt alvorsdåd forsmå ej skæmt!
skæmt så, at alvor ej bli'r glemt!

Mistænk ej nogen uden skel!
tro heller ingen alt for vel!
Vær til at se og høre snar!
sendrægtig derimod til svar!

Sky strid, så længe som du kan!
men tvinges du, da strid som mand!
Fra lasters plet hold ren din sti!
fra lønlig brøde vid dig fri!

Thi tungest byrde, nogen véd,
er dog en tung samvittighed.
Så gå med Gud din bane frem!
Du går da ikke hen, men hjem.
