Erstanden ist's in alter Pracht,
Und will den Gruß euch bringen!

Das Gott geführt zum Siege,
Hinüber reicht's die treue Hand
Euch, an der Freiheit Wiege!
Hinüber schallt's vom deutschen Wald,
Und hallt's an eurem Meere,
Wie wenn die Fluth an's Ufer prallt:
Dem Herrn sei Dank und Ehre!
Das eine deutsche Vaterland,
Mit Jauchzen grüßt es wieder!
Und schickt zurück vom fernsten Strand
Ihm eure schönsten Lieder!
Erstanden ist's in Herrlichkeit,
Vom Siegeskranz umwunden:
In Lieb' und Treu für ewge Zeit
O bleibt mit ihm verbunden!

Of which the best [of men] dreamt in the west,
In the grass of the steppes, at the wave-beat shore,
In the bustle of the city;
Of which, in the deepest sylvan night,
Homesickness had to sing:
It has risen in its old splendour,
And wishes to offer greetings to you!
The one German homeland,
Which God led to victory,
It stretches its faithful hand
Over to you at the cradle of freedom!
From the German woods it resounds
Over to you and echoes by your ocean,
As if the waters were pounding against the shore:
To the Lord be thanks and honour!
The one German homeland,
Greet it once more with rejoicing!
And from the farthest shore send
Back to it your loveliest songs!
It has risen in glory,
Entwined by the victory wreath:
In love and faithfulness for eternal times,
Oh, remain united with it!
