by Christian Ludwig Reissig (1784 - 1847)

Mild umschattet von der Dämm'rung...
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mild umschattet von der Dämm'rung Schleyer,
Schlummert die Natur in sanfter Feyer,
Müde von des Tages Sonnengluth;
Ernst versunken in Erinn'rungstraume,
Wandl' ich einsam hier im Schöpfungsraume,
Wo sonst Alles, nur mein Herz nicht ruht.

Denn das Schicksal schlug ihm eine Wunde,
Schmerzend mahnt sie stets an jene Stunde,
Die aus einem Himmel mich verstieß --
Ach, schon viel gelitten, viel geduldet,
Hab' ich armer Wand'rer unverschuldet,
Seit meiner Jugend Pfad verließ.

Guter Mond! wie traurig, wie so stille,
Blickst du durch azur'ne Wolkenhülle,
Auf die Thränen deines Freund's herab;
Wann siehst du die letzte Kummerthräne?
Wann verhalle meine Klagetöne?
Küssest du wohl bald mein Rasengrab?
