Wenn ich vom Schlaf erwache nach dunkler Nacht,
soll dir mein Lied erklingen, du Gott der macht!
Du hast mich, Herr, bewahret, mich treu beschützt,
giebst mit dem Morgen wieder was frommt und nützt.
O leite mich, du Treuer, an deiner Hand!
Durch dieser Tage Mühen, zum Heimatland,
gieb auf der Pilgerreise mir deinen Geist;
dass er zu dir mich weise zu allermeist!

Gieb, dass in deinem Licht, mein Herz ich seh,
damit ich selbst mich richte, wenn irr' ich geh,
gieb Demut, Lieb' und Treue, gieb Herr, sie mir,
und leite mich im Frieden, o Gott zu dir!
