Wie kurz ist doch die Lebenszeit
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie kurz ist doch die Lebenszeit,
wie wenig Jahre uns geweiht,
und doch in diesen wenig Jahren
muss man so manches Leid erfahren.

Wie dort in jenen heitern Matten
Die Blümlein blühen und ermatten,
so flieht auch unsre Kraft von hinnen,
die gleich dem Schatten muss zerrinnen.

Note: this is marked in the CD booklet as a free translation by Orell, but the language and author of the original text is not given.
